The Sum of Summertime: Part II

Just as we were feeling pretty gloomy about our first set of guests having to leave so soon, we were delighted to open the front door and find our next guests:

James’ sister, Georgia, and her boyfriend Rick were up from Ohio for a summer visit. Their visit was even shorter than Benji’s but I think we managed to cover as many miles or more and even hob-nobbed with some legendary musicians along the way…

That’s right! Front row seats to see Alison Krauss & Union Station and Willie Nelson. (Willie Nelson, in spite of the camera angle, is actually not a dwarf 1/3 the height of his harmonica player.)

For one of their few dinners at our place, I made a Sweet Cherry Pie decorated with buttery pastry butterflies just for Georgia.

We also ventured north to Emmet County to mill about the shops in downtown Petoskey, sample the Polish cuisine and exquisite views at Leg’s Inn in Cross Village, and tour Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island.
